MOKANA takes its name from the ancestral culture of the Mokana, an indigenous people deeply connected to the history of Galapa, Colombia. From this heritage springs our inspiration: a craft culture that transforms natural materials into pieces brimming with identity, color, and meaning.
Woven baskets, pottery, masks, and creations for the Barranquilla Carnival represent a tradition where ingenuity and craftsmanship become unique artistic expressions. This creative spirit remains present in our approach to conceiving and producing images, content, and audiovisual experiences.
From Galapa to the World
Founded by Alberto González, known as Albertini, MOKANA grew amidst the colors, sounds, and cultural richness of the Colombian Caribbean. Our first steps in television, producing programs for Telecaribe, marked the beginning of a journey that later led us to advertising agencies and the development of increasingly ambitious audiovisual projects.
Later, Bogotá became our stage for expansion. For nearly 14 years, we consolidated our experience in producing commercials and more complex projects, strengthening our creative, technical, and narrative capabilities. However, our essence never ceased to be connected to the Caribbean: an identity that manifests itself in color, contrast, energy, and our storytelling style.
When Music Became an Experience
Our evolution led us to the music industry, where we worked alongside record labels like Sony Music and Codiscos, transforming songs into visuals through music videos and audiovisual productions. Then came a new dimension: live performances.
We began integrating music, lighting, screens, visual content, sound, and stage design so that audiences could not only hear their favorite artists but also experience their music.
Along this path, we participated in projects and releases with artists such as Silvestre Dangond, Felipe Peláez, and Martín Elías, among others, during a period of transformation for major vallenato music shows in Colombia. The influence of electronic music, house, and trance, combined with our audiovisual experience, broadened our vision of the stage as a space where technology and art converge to create memorable experiences.
We understood that a show is not limited to what happens on stage: it is also built upon what the audience feels, sees, and remembers.
Over time, our experience has expanded to include new forms of storytelling and audiovisual creation: from music videos and concerts to visual content, documentaries, and projects that connect music with other artistic expressions. Each production has allowed us to explore new possibilities, integrate different disciplines, and understand that technology reaches its true potential when it serves an idea.
For us, lighting, sound, screens, and images are not isolated elements. They are part of the same creative language, capable of building atmospheres, conveying emotions, and transforming an idea into an experience.
Our journey took us from Bogotá to Los Angeles, California, a city with a global reach where film, music, advertising, technology, and the creative industries converge. Arriving in this environment represents an opportunity to broaden our perspective, connect cultures, and take our experience to new stages. From Galapa, we retain our artisanal identity and the spirit of creating with our hands and imagination. From Bogotá, we gain adaptability, the ability to learn, and the experience of an industry in constant motion. From Los Angeles, we gain openness to new influences, technologies, and creative possibilities. These three stages are part of the same vision: to create without losing our roots and to evolve while continuing to experiment.
